German Games Charts September: Football, Space Marines and Promotional Effects

In September 2024, no game sold better in Germany than EA Sports FC 25 from Electronic Arts. This success was hardly surprising, which makes the second-placed title from Ubisoft, which was actually released in 2018, all the more surprising. However, new releases such as Space Marine 2, Astrobot and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom also performed well.

Released at the end of September, EA Sports FC 25 unsurprisingly shot to the top of the German games sales charts. As a result, interest in EA Sports FC 24 dropped significantly. On the other hand, Star Wars Outlaws, the top game of the previous month, fell to eleventh place. Speaking of Ubisoft. The French publisher still managed to get one of its games into second place with The Crew 2, which was released in 2018 and offered at a heavily discounted price. The latest instalment in the franchise, The Crew Motorfest, also benefited from this and re-entered the charts at number 10.

The second-strongest new entry is Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II from Focus Entertainment at number 3, ahead of Astrobot, a PlayStation 5 exclusive from Sony Interactive Entertainment, at number 4, and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, a Switch exclusive from Nintendo, at number 7. NBA 2K25 from Take-Two label 2K Games entered the charts at number 8, while Nacon made it into the top 10 with Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown at number 12.

Alongside long-running hits Hogwarts Legacy and Grand Theft Auto V, Age of Mythology: Retold from Microsoft climbed up the charts as the (more expensive) Advanced Access was released in August. Sony Interactive Entertainment's God of War Ragnarök re-entered the charts at number 18 with the release of the PC version. Global hit Black Myth: Wukong from Game Science is missing from the charts as the publisher does not report sales data to GSD, similar to Larian Studios or Epic Games Publishing.

The data is collected by Games Sales Data (GSD), a platform launched by Video Games Europe to measure physical and digital sales of computer and video games. The charts provide a unique and comprehensive overview of the most successful games in Germany in a given month. The charts are published monthly by game – the German Games Industry Association.
