Segas neue Ausrichtung als Multiplattform-Entwickler- und Publisher scheint aufzugehen. Wie Chief Operating Officer Tetsu Kayama gegenüber CBS MarketWatch sagte, werde sich die Unternehmenskonsolidierung früher auszahlen als erwartet. So strebt Sega noch im laufenden Geschäftsjahr den Break-Even-Point an. Zuletzt erwirtschaftete das Unternehmen im Fiskaljahr 1998/1999 einen Gewinn. Im Zwölfmonatszeitraum 2000/01 schlug ein Verlust von 69,2 Mrd. Yen (rund 614 Mio. Euro) in der Bilanz zu Buche. Das aktuelle Geschäftsjahr endet am 31. diesen Monats.
