Sega to Continue Alien: Isolation
Ten years after Alien: Isolation, Creative Assembly and Sega have officially confirmed a sequel to the horror game, without being more specific. It is said that they have clearly heard the shouts of the community.
The tenth anniversary of the release of Alien: Isolation has prompted Creative Assembly and Sega to announce a sequel, although the game is still in the early stages of development. Al Hope, Creative Director, writes that they have heard the many calls for a sequel loud and clear: "I'm delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we're ready."
Released in October 2014, Alien: Isolation had sold over 2.1 million copies by the end of March 2015, in a "weak year" for the publisher. It wasn't an overwhelming success for Sega, but the game has continued to do well in the years since its release, with a peak CCU of 10,870 on Steam in April 2020. In addition, user approval is very high and fans have long been calling for a sequel.
The new game is once again being developed by Creative Assembly, best known for the Total War series, most recently Total War Pharaoh and Total War: Warhammer III. Last year, the UK-based company's online multiplayer shooter Hyenas was cancelled, leading to job cuts. Creative Assembly was acquired by Sega in March 2005 and became part of Sega Europe.
Al Hope: "When we started developing Alien: Isolation, we had one guiding principle: to create a truly authentic experience that went back to the roots of the ALIEN franchise - a new story capturing the atmosphere and terror of the original 1979 movie masterpiece. It's been nothing short of incredible to witness your passion for the game over the years and see it reach so many players around the world."
