At Spotlight Games Berlin, ahead of Deutsher Computerspielpreis (DCP), four Berlin studios repaid their state funding, three of them through a symbolic cheque handover.

Good news for games funding in Berlin: as revealed by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg at Spotlight Games Berlin, four development teams have successfully repaid their funding recently. A total of €366,000 will be returned to the Medienboard and therefore reinvested into the funding budget for future projects.

Three of the four studios presented symbolic cheques during Spotlight Games Berlin, held at the Rotes Rathaus. Happy Broccoli Games returned €63,000, which they had received for the development of Kraken Academy. Stoked Sloth Interactive also repaid €63,000 for Driftwood. Emberstorm Entertainment made the largest repayment, contributing €150,000 for Rekay. Bitfall Studios, which returned €90,000 for the development of Terrascape, was unable to attend the event to hand over the cheque in person.
