In early 2026, Valve Software will officially expand the Steam Hardware family or ecosstem with three new products: The Steam Controller, the Steam Machine (gaming PC) and the Steam Frame (VR headset). "Powered by Steam, optimized for gaming in any form. And just like Steam Deck, all are designed to help players get even more out of their Steam Library. All of our hardware is Steam first, and built to work seamlessly with Steam. Steam Deck, Steam Machine, and Steam Frame all run SteamOS, Valve’s operating system optimized for gaming. It’s designed to provide a plug-and-play user experience, while still retaining access to the power and flexibility of a PC," said Valve Software.

Steam Frame
The Steam Frame is a wireless VR headset designed for streaming that comes with controllers. According to Valve Software, it runs on SteamOS and is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Series processor. With 16 GB of RAM, the Steam Frame supports standalone play for both VR and non-VR games, eliminating the need for PC streaming. However, depending on the hardware requirements of the game, not all games will run directly on the headset. In this case, it is also possible to stream to the headset. The included plug-and-play 6 GHz wireless adapter provides a dedicated link for both VR and non-VR streaming.

Steam Controller
The Steam Controller features magnetic thumbsticks with TMR technology for enhanced feel, responsiveness, and durability. They also support capacitive touch, enabling motion controls. The controller has high-definition rumble, grip-enabled gyro, trackpads and four assignable grip buttons. It comes with the Steam Controller Puck, a wireless transmitter that provides a 2.4 GHz wireless connection with an end-to-end latency of ~8 ms and a polling rate of 4 ms (measured at 5 m). It also functions as a charging station. Valve: "Prefer using Bluetooth or USB? Steam Controller supports those too." Up to four Steam Controllers can be connected to a Steam Controller Puck, which connects to a PC via USB-C. It is built for Steam and can be configured using Steam Input. It is compatible with PCs, laptops, the Steam Deck, the Steam Machine, the Steam Frame and more.
