"Shadow Gambit: Definitive Edition will offer a rich experience for existing fans while also appealing to collectors and physical game enthusiasts." Further collaborations between Hooded Horse and Strictly Limited will be announced at a later date.

Shadow Gambit was developed by Mimimi Games, the studio behind Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun and Desperados III. In August 2023, shortly after the release of Shadow Tactics, Mimimi Games announced that the studio would be closing. The founders, Dominik Abé and Johannes Roth, cited the well-being and mental health of the employees as the reason for the studio's closure.
