After a turbulent development history and its launch in April 2023, Deep Silver now counts over ten million players in Dead Island 2.

Coinciding with the release of Dead Island 2 Ultimate Edition, Deep Silver, Plaion's flagship publishing label, has announced that Dead Island 2 has reached more than ten million players worldwide. The bloody zombie action game was released in April 2023, with the PC version initially available exclusively on the Epic Games Store, followed by a Steam launch in April 2024. It should be noted, however, that this is not a count of units sold, but players reached, as the title has been included in Game Pass since February 2024 and in PlayStation Plus Extra since October 2024.

Plaion: "The milestone was reached on the same day that Dead Island 2 Ultimate Edition launched, offering a free upgrade to all Gold Edition owners, granting them access to all the content Hell-A has to offer. (...) And for anyone who has yet to give Dead Island 2 a try – there will be free playable trial versions on Xbox and PlayStation digital storefronts. This allows you to play a limited session (both single player and co-op) of the game with your save game progress transferring to the full version once you purchase."
