Nintendo will announce the successor to the Switch this fiscal year, Nintendo president Satoru Furukawa has confirmed. Meanwhile, a Switch-only Direct will be on the air in June.

Nintendo is managing expectations for its next console. Nintendo President Shuntarō Furukawa explained via Twitter/X that the company will announce the successor to the Nintendo Switch in the current fiscal year. This fiscal year ends on 31 March 2025. The Japanese company has also announced a Direct for June 2024, which will focus on Switch games that will be released in the second half of the year. The new console will not be featured in this event.

His message on Twitter/X: "This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015. We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation."
