The Game Awards 2025 – All Announcements

The Game Awards 2025 saw the announcement of Divinity by Larian Studios. This new role-playing game, developed by the team behind Baldur's Gate 3, promises “unprecedented scope and depth”. It is Larian Studios' most ambitious project yet. While Divinity is a new game, no prior knowledge of previous Larian titles is required. Those who have played Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin 2 will appreciate the continuity and depth. Swen Vincke, the founder and game director of Larian Studios, says, "Despite the series' long history, this is our first game to bear the title 'Divinity'. We want to bring everything we've created together in one place. This is the beginning of something with greater scope, depth and familiarity than anything we've created before. We've been working towards this moment ever since we took our destiny into our own hands. This is the Divinity we've always wanted to create, and you're going to have a lot of fun with it."

In cooperation with Lucasfilm Games, Arcanaut Studios has announced Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, a single-player, narrative-driven action RPG for PC and consoles. The game will be developed by a new studio founded by Casey Hudson, director of the original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and the Mass Effect trilogy. "When we developed the original KOTOR, we wanted to create a definitive Star Wars experience - crafting an adventure that consisted of all the things we dreamed of doing as Star Wars fans," Hudson says. "Now, 25 years after we started work on that game, our aspirations are equally ambitious. Fate of the Old Republic represents an opportunity to explore a contemporary vision of a definitive Star Wars experience, using state-of-the-art technology and game design, and an all-new story crafted specifically to deliver on the combination of player agency and immersion in Star Wars that was at the heart of KOTOR." However, it was not the only Star Wars game announced. Publisher Secret Mode and developer Fuse Games, a studio led by former Criterion Games general manager Matt Webster, are set to release Star Wars: Galactic Racer for the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2026. "For us, Star Wars has always represented the power of wonder – and racing is one of its most thrilling expressions," said Matt Webster, CEO at Fuse Games. "With Star Wars: Galactic Racer, we wanted to reinvent what a racing game can be: adventurous, spectacular and exhilarating. We want every race to feel alive with dynamic risk-reward choices, and every victory to feel incredible."

Amazon Game Studios and Crystal Dynamics have announced two new games in the Tomb Raider franchise. Tomb Raider: Catalyst (2027) is the latest instalment in the series, while Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis (2026) is a reimagining of Lara's original debut. Both Tomb Raider: Catalyst and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will feature actress Alix Wilton Regan as Lara Croft. Tomb Raider: Catalyst has been in development at Crystal Dynamics since the partnership with Amazon Game Studios was announced in 2022. In this game, Lara Croft embarks on an adventure through northern India. Based on Unreal Engine 5, the game offers the largest Tomb Raider world yet for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is being developed by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog using Unreal Engine 5. It promises a blend of modern game design and new surprises that capture the spirit and atmosphere of the original. "Tomb Raider stands among gaming's most beloved and enduring franchises, and we’re thrilled to partner with Crystal Dynamics to bring two distinct Lara Croft adventures to players worldwide," said Christoph Hartmann, VP of Amazon Game Studios. "This innovative new chapter with Tomb Raider: Catalyst, and the thoughtful reinvention of the series’ roots with Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, perfectly exemplifies our commitment to supporting developers with bold creative visions. We’re focused on delivering rich, story-driven experiences that resonate with both longtime fans and newcomers, strengthening our dedication to high-quality gaming experiences."

Remedy Entertainment has unveiled Control Resonant, the sequel to Control. Players will explore a warped Manhattan on the brink of paranormal annihilation in this thrilling action-adventure RPG. The protagonist is Dylan Faden, the brother of Jesse Faden (the protagonist from Control), as he fights for his humanity and survival against a reality-bending cosmic threat. Control Resonant is being published by Remedy Entertainment. Annapurna Pictures is co-financing and co-producing the game as part of a strategic partnership with Remedy Entertainment. Control Resonant is scheduled for release in 2026 on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. "Control Resonant pushes our paranatural action RPG series into an expansive, reality-warping playground of choice, power, and consequence," said Mikael Kasurinen, Creative Director of Control Resonant. "You don't have to know the first game to jump into the sequel, we've made this one easy to pick up and hard to put down. We're pushing the scale beyond anything we’ve done before, elevating combat, exploration, and storytelling into a bigger, more memorable experience. It's ambitious, a little wild, and we can't wait for players to get lost in it."

To mark the end of Total War's 25th Anniversary Celebrations, Sega and The Creative Assembly have announced Total War: Warhammer 40,000. It will release for PC but will also be the franchise's debut on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. For the first time, Total War steps into the far future. It features Space Marines, Astra Militarum, Orks, and Aeldari, each offering a distinct playstyle across campaign and battle. The game is a galactic sandbox. Players can capturing planets, upgrading fleets, managing their war economy, conquer worlds, bombard enemies from orbit, and command real-time battles over planetary strongholds. Game Director, Attila Mohacsi: "Warhammer 40,000 is a science-fantasy setting without equal. Its galactic scale, iconic factions, and brutal battles have contributed to a universe that gels perfectly with Total War's DNA. We've worked with Games Workshop for over 15 years and can’t wait to continue that partnership with the aim of creating the definitive Warhammer 40,000 strategy experience just like we did with the Total War: Warhammer series." The game's debut trailer was unveiled at The Game Awards by Warhammer 40,000 fan David Harbour (Stranger Things), who will play a character yet to be revealed.

Several announcements were made by Capcom at The Game Awards 2025. Pragmata is set to launch on 24 April 2026. In addition to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, it will also be available on Switch 2. Leon S. Kennedy will be the second protagonist alongside the previously announced Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem. Requiem is set for release on 27 February 2026. Mega Man: Dual Override, the twelfth mainline instalment in the Mega Man series, was unveiled and will be released for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in 2027. The band Evanescence gave a special live performance of their song Afterlife from the Netflix series Devil May Cry and announced that the second season will premiere on 12 May 2026. Finally, the cast of Capcom and Legendary Entertainment's upcoming Street Fighter film took to the stage to present an award and offer a sneak preview of the film. The cast included Andrew Koji (Ryu), Noah Centineo (Ken), Callina Liang (Chun-Li), Cody Rhodes (Guile) and Jason Momoa (Blanka).

Blizzard Entertainment has unveiled Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred, the final showdown with Mephisto. This second expansion to Diablo IV is set to launch on 28 April 2026. It will feature a story campaign, two new character classes and a range of gameplay enhancements, including a revised skill tree, loot filters for targeted farming, fishing, the return of the Horadric Cube and a new talisman system that grants set bonuses to character builds. It will also unveil the oldest and most historic region of Sanctuary: Skovos. Players who pre-order the expansion will be able to play the new Paladin class immediately.

• 007 First Light villain Bawma (Pirate King) will be portrayed by Lenny Kravitz (26 March 2026). In Hitman World of Assassination, Milla Jovovich will be the next Elusive Target for Agent 47 (February 2026).
• 4:LOOP is a cooperative, third-person shooter developed by Bad Robot Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is set to launch on PC and PS5.
• Ace Combat 8: Wings of the Beast, developed by Bandai Namco Aces and published by Bandai Namco, is set to launch in 2026 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
• Arknights: Endfield (Mountain Contour & Gryphline) is set to arrive on 22 January 2026, with versions available for PC, PS5, iOS and Android.
• Coven of the Chicken Foot, a puzzle-platform adventure game developed by Wildflower Interactive and created by Bruce Straley (Uncharted, The Last of Us), has been announced for PC.
• Exodus, developed by Archetype Entertainment and published by Wizards of the Coast, is set to roll out in early 2027 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
• Forest 3 is the next game from Endnight Games, the developers of The Forest and Sons of the Forest.
• Gang of Dragons, a new action-adventure game from Nagoshi Studio, has been announced for PC. Created by Toshihiro Nagoshi, it is a new action-adventure game set in the streets of Shinjuku, Tokyo.
• Invincible VS, developed by Quarter Up and published by Skybound Games, will be released on 30 April 2026 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
• Highguard is a PvP raid shooter in which players ride, fight and raid as Wardens — arcane gunslingers who have been sent to battle for control of a mythical continent. This hero shooter, developed by Wildlight Entertainment (formed by the creators of Apex Legends and Titanfall), is set to launch on 26 January 2026.
• Lords of the Fallen II, from Hexworks and CI Games, is scheduled for release in 2026. The first game received an update to Version 2.5.
• John Carpenter's Toxic Commando (co-op shooter), developed by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Entertainment and Plaion, is set to launch on 12 March 2026.
• Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is set to launch on 29 May 2026 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and will be available for the Switch 2 at a later date.
• Marvel Rivals Season 6 will launch on 16 January 2026 and will feature Deadpool.
• Ontos has been announced by Frictional Games, the developers of the SOMA and Amnesia series, and Kepler Interactive. This science fiction thriller will be released for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2026.
• Nioh 3 has been scheduled for release on 6 February 2026. Prior to this, on 29 January, Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo will release a demo.
• No Law is the latest game from Neon Giant (creators of The Ascent) and Krafton. This first-person cyber-noir shooter features a rich storyline and will be available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
• Orbitals, from Shapefarm and Kepler Interactive, is a cooperative adventure game set in a classic retro anime universe. It will be released for Switch 2 in 2026.
• Order of the Sinking Star, a narrative adventure set in a realm of magic and enigma with more than 1,000 interconnected, hand-crafted puzzles, is the latest game from Braid and The Witness director Jonathan Blow for PC. It is published by Arc Games.
• Out of Words is set to launch on the Switch 2 alongside the previously announced versions for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2026. It is being developed by Kong Orange, Wired Fly and Morten Søndergaard, and will be published by Epic Games Publishing.
• Phantom Blade Zero (S-Game) is set to launch on 9 September 2026 for PC and PlayStation 5.
• Phasmophobia will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.
• Saros, the third-person shooter with rogue-like elements from Housemarque and Sony Interactive Entertainment, will be released on 30 April 2026 for PlayStation 5.
• Screamer is coming out on 26 March 2026. This futuristic racing game from Milestone and Plaion will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
• Solasta II, developed by Tactical Adventures and published by Kepler Interactive, will be released on Steam Early Access for PC on 12 March 2026.
• Soulframe & Warframe: To celebrate recent major updates to Warframe and Soulframe, Digital Extremes debuted two new trailers at The Game Awards, including a live-action Warframe short featuring the award-winning filmmaker and actor Werner Herzog, and a new Soulframe Founders trailer featuring Jennifer English.
• South of Midnight from Compulsion Games and Xbox will be released in spring 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Switch 2.
• Gptrack50, the Netease studio headed by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, revealed Stupid Never Dies. This "fast growth" 3D action RPG has been created by a seasoned team of action game developers who have worked on series such as Devil May Cry, Dragon's Dogma and Resident Evil. It is set to launch on PC and PS5 in 2026.
• TankRat is an updated version of the single-player tank action-adventure game TankHead, developed by Alpha Channel and published by Kepler Interactive. It is set to launch on PC and PS5 in spring 2026.
• The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin from Netmarble is scheduled for release on 28 January 2026 for PC, iOS, Android, and PS5.
• Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons is a third-person, single-player, action-adventure game developed by Invoke Studios and published by Wizards of the Coast. It is set to launch in 2027 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. A gameplay reveal is planned for summer 2026.
• Zenless Zone Zero's (HoYoverse) showcase featured the premiere of two new agents, Ye Shunguang and Zhao, as well as a sneak peek at the Angels of Delusion faction.
