This was one of the biggest announcements at ONL: Bremen-based developer King Art Games is developing the latest chapter in the successful Dawn of War PC series. Deep Silver is the publisher.

Deep Silver (Plaion) and King Art Games officially unveiled Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV at the Opening Night Live at gamescom 2025. However, no release time frame was given.

Marking a return to the franchise's roots, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV features classic base-building, large armies and deep strategic gameplay, all brought to life through modern innovations and a fresh narrative set on the iconic planet Kronus, approximately 200 years after the events of Dawn of War: Dark Crusade.

There are four fully playable and distinct factions: Space Marines, Orks, Necrons and the Adeptus Mechanicus. Each of the four factions in Dawn of War IV has its own campaign, telling a different part of the overall story and featuring a total of over 70 missions. The story is co-written by Black Library author John French and each faction has its own cinematic CGI intro. There are also about 40 minutes of cutscenes. Campaigns feature non-linear and optional elements. There are other game modes as well: Skirmish, Co-op and Competitive Multiplayer, along with the return of the fan favourite Last Stand mode.

This will be the biggest Dawn of War launch to date, featuring four distinct factions, over 10 playable Commanders and 110 units/buildings, many of which are customisable. There will also be an in-game editor for player-created content and a Painter tool for unit customisation as well.
