Dune: Awakening Release Date Confirmed
While Funcom had previously announced a spring 2025 release date, it has now been confirmed that Dune: Awakening will be released on PC in May, just a few days after Doom: The Dark Ages. The character creator and a benchmark are already available on Steam.
Norwegian developer and publisher Funcom (wholly owned by Tencent) has lifted the veil on Dune: Awakening's release date. The open-world multiplayer survival game set on Arrakis will be released on Steam on 20 May. This means that the game will be available just a few days after Doom: The Dark Ages (15 May). Nothing has been revealed about the console versions. The base game will be priced at $49.99/€49.99, with pre-orders starting soon. Nukklear from Hannover and Yager from Berlin were involved in the development of the game.
Inspired by Frank Herbert's sci-fi novel and Legendary Entertainment's films, Dune: Awakening will be the biggest Dune game to date. "Dune: Awakening is the most ambitious survival game ever made, set on the most dangerous planet in the universe, Arrakis. Whether a Dune fan or not, the vast world will immerse you in an epic experience that draws from both Frank Herbert's sci-fi masterpiece and Denis Villeneuve's blockbuster movies. Embark on a journey from scavenging and survival to controlling the planet itself," writes Funcom.
Players can already start by downloading the character creator from Steam and testing their hardware with the benchmark mode. Created characters can then be imported into Dune: Awakening at launch.
