THQ Nordic has launched the crowdfunding campaign for Gothic: A Shadow's Quest on Gamefound. More than 12,000 people are currently following the project. The funding target is €50,000. Gothic is one of the most well-known franchises in the THQ Nordic portfolio. The board game will be available for €80 (plus VAT and shipping). A separate Gothic dice set is also available for €6.

In this board game, players step into the boots of a Shadow - an ambitious member of the Old Camp seeking to rise to fame within the colony. Designed for one to four players, Gothic: A Shadow's Quest takes place in the Colony before the arrival of the nameless hero from the original game. Players select one of eight backgrounds and choose from eight archetypes, including swordsman, mage and more. With a mix of quests, combat and exploration, the game immerses players in the dark, dangerous world of the Colony.

The Gothic board game is being developed by the board game division of THQ Nordic, the creative team behind Darksiders - The Forbidden Land. The Austrian company is using Gamefound, a platform specialising in board games, as its crowdfunding platform.

Meanwhile, Spanish developer Alkimia Interactive continues to work on the Gothic 1 remake for PC and consoles.
