Tiny Roar, developers of the upcoming Lou’s Lagoon, and Megabit, the publishing arm of Aonic, today unveiled their new survival adventure Verdant. The game was revealed during the Wholesome Snack showcase.

Verdant has received 201,365 euros in prototype funding from Germany’s Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space just this October; then under the working title "TR4 Prototype: A Coming-of-Age Story in a Green Post-Apocalypse".

Verdant is a hopeful coming-of-age story,” commented Maurice Hagelstein, co-founder of Tiny Roar and Director of Verdant. “Throughout Sprout’s journey players will encounter difficult moral choices and moments of poignant nostalgia as they balance their own survival against the needs of the natural world. We’re excited to show players more of Verdant in the future.”

The team describes the game as follows: "In Verdant, players traverse a lush, post-apocalyptic landscape where mutated flora and fauna flourish and remnants of 1980s human culture linger untouched. As Sprout sets out in search of food, loot and a sense of his place in the world, he discovers a miraculous infection has armed him with remarkable powers that allow him to give or take life essence from nature. As a result, he must balance his need to survive against his impact on the environment, forcing players into difficult, in-the-moment choices that can help Sprout endure or leave lasting marks on the world around him."

Verdant is coming to Steam and is available to wishlist there now.
