Spielwarenhändler Toys'R'Us hat eine aggressive Strategie im Segment Online-Shopping angekündigt. Auch das Ziel wurde offengelegt: Bis Ende '99 will Toys'R'Us führender Internethändler für Spielwaren und Kinderprodukte werden. Dazu will die Company eine eigene Division, toysrus.com, mit Sitz in Nordkalifornien gründen. Gleichzeitig kooperiert Toys'R'Us mit der Venture Capital-Firma Benchmark Capital, die eine nicht bezifferte Investition in die neue Division tätigen werden. Schließlich hat Toys'R'Us für 30 Mio. Dollar ein Fullfillment Center in Memphis erworben, über das die per Internet bestellten Waren ausgeliefert werden sollen.
