The Swiss studio Okomotive came away empty-handed in the Best 3D Visuals category, as did the Cologne-based studio Neoludig Games in the Best Desktop/Console Games category. Megagon Industries, Photon Engine (Exit Games), the design agency Vennegerts, and Binary Impact can also “only” be happy about having been nominated for the 17th Unity Awards.
As disappointing as it is that they didn't make the cut in the end, the competition was fierce. According to Unity, over 700 projects were submitted, from which the 14,000 community voters could ultimately choose their winners.
And so the GSA region didn't come away completely empty-handed after all. At the Social Impact Awards, for which there were no prior nominations, Cologne-based studio Mellow Games was honored alongside others for its title Blueberry. And at the Industry Awards, BMW was among those honored with an Innovation Award.
The Unity Awards were presented for the second time as part of a showcase, hosted by Joy Horvath, Senior Program Manager Elevate, and Jas Sanghani, Social Media Manager at Unity. The release trailers for Den of Wolves, Vampire Crawlers, and Ferocious, among others, were shown.
There was also news such as new gameplay for Symbiosis, The War of the Worlds: Siberia, and Planet of Lana II. Last but not least, there was the premiere of Darkside Detective: The Backside of the Moon. But of course, the focus was on the winners of the 17th Unity Awards.
