Z-Software Continues Dustwind
Z-Software is planning to release a spiritual successor to Dustwind - The Last Resort as a standalone single-player title in June. Before that, the original Dustwind will receive a free DLC as a bridge between the two games.
Dustwind Studios and Z-Software, both based at the same address in Dortmund, are working on another instalment of the Dustwind franchise. Dustwind: Resistance will be released in June 2025 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It is a standalone single-player experience and a spiritual successor to Dustwind - The Last Resort (2018), which included multiplayer capabilities. Set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, the game features real-time tactical combat with pauses. It focuses on tactical squad-based warfare, gritty storytelling, and flexible playstyles - from explosive attacks to stealth. The developers cite a streamlined interface for smoother tactics, more varied environments, and new and revamped skills and gameplay mechanics.
Andreas Heldt, Head of Z-Software: "This is the game Dustwind fans have been waiting for. Streamlined, immersive, and focused entirely on single-player action, Dustwind: Resistance delivers intense tactical combat in a new, fully-fledged campaign. Whether you want to sneak, snipe, or crush your enemies with an armored car, the Resistance has your back."
Ahead of the summer release of Dustwind: Resistance, the original Dustwind will receive the free 2Friends DLC in early May. This DLC introduces a short narrative campaign and tactical missions that set the stage for the events in Resistance, giving returning players a taste of what's to come.
Z-Software is a Dortmund-based game development studio founded in 2008 and known for Pilot Sports, Dustwind and the Autobahn Police Simulator franchise.
