In total, the Women in Games manifesto lists 14 good reasons, which are primarily aimed at cooperation. “Progress does not happen by accident – it happens when people come together with clarity, courage, and purpose. The Women in Games Manifesto is a living commitment to rebalancing the scales and ensuring that women are not only part of the future of games, but are helping to design it,” says Dr Marie-Claire Isaaman, CEO fo Women in Games.

According to WiG, the publication comes against the backdrop of ongoing challenges for women and gender-diverse professionals in the gaming industry. These challenges include inequalities in pay, representation in leadership positions, workplace safety and visibility. In the organisation's view, fairness is an active process that needs to be shaped. WiG's work is outlined in five key areas: industry, education, politics, community and culture.

The manifesto now presented is a further development of the manifesto presented two years ago. The update is also intended to show that progress and fairness are not static.

“As the industry looks toward futures shaped by AI, virtual worlds, and the metaverse, who builds those systems matters,” Isaaman says. “Fairness is not charity — it is strategy. When women thrive, the industry thrives. This Manifesto is an invitation to the entire ecosystem to build a fair playing field together.”

More information about the manifesto can be found on the Women in Games website, where the manifesto itself can also be downloaded.
