Last Friday, the Danish "Spilprisen 2026" awards were handed out in Copenhagen. "When the awards were presented, it became clear just how diverse the Danish industry truly is," said the organizers.
On 13 February 2026, the Danish Spilprisen 2026 awards were presented at the Bella Center in Copenhagen. In the main category, "Game of the Year", Death Howl by The Outer Zone won against Lego Voyagers by Light Brick Studio, Mind Diver by Indoor Sunglasses, What the Clash? by Triband and Discounty by Crinkle Cut Games. Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor by Funday Games won the award for Best Game Design. The audience award went to Tempest Rising by Slipgate Ironworks.
The Double Jump Award recognises a game studio that has achieved remarkable success in a B2B context. Although Slipgate Ironworks went bankrupt a few years ago, the company has since fought its way back and established itself as a leading player in the Danish games industry.
The Spilprisen award was established by the Producers' Association in 2013 and, since 2025, has been organised by Games Denmark in collaboration with Arkaden and Bellagroup. Winners of the awards do not receive any prize money. The awards are intended as a tribute to the local industry and are designed to raise its profile. A jury of Danish games industry professionals creates the shortlist of nominees and selects the winners.
Lau Eskildsen, Editor-in-Chief of Arkaden: "Spilprisen 2026 was, in every sense, a tremendous success. First and foremost, it was a joyful and celebratory evening where we had the opportunity to honour the extraordinary talent within Danish game development. When the awards were presented, it became clear just how diverse the Danish industry truly is. We have major titles with millions of players, but we also have remarkable indie productions that each showcase different strengths and creative visions."
"Denmark has a proud storytelling tradition. We love telling stories - and we do so in many different ways. This year's winners reflect a broad artistic and cultural spectrum: highly artistic experiences, warm and accessible games, and large-scale productions that reach audiences across the world. Spilprisen 2026 ultimately marked the culmination of a year that once again demonstrated how much Danish game development has to offer."
