At the Sony State of Play Showcase, Lionsgate and Saber Interactive announced a new AAA video game based on the billion-dollar John Wick franchise from Lionsgate. Tailored for mature audiences and currently in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, this new single-player, third-person action game will feature hard-hitting gun fu combat, cinematic camerawork and storytelling, driving sequences and bold, atmospheric environments. The game's production is being overseen by John Wick franchise director Chad Stahelski and star Keanu Reeves, with Reeves set to reprise his iconic character's look, voice and more.
"I can't wait for fans to step into the shoes of John Wick and explore the multi-dimensional world of The High Table," stated Jenefer Brown, President of Global Products & Experiences at Lionsgate. "We are collaborating closely with Saber's dedicated team to develop a game that captures the unparalleled action, brand-defining fight choreography, immersive world-building, and authenticity of the films."
"John Wick is one of the most iconic characters in action film history. Saber is honored to be working alongside Chad, Keanu and the Lionsgate team in a true collaboration to bring the world of Wick to life in a AAA game," said Matthew Karch, CEO at Saber Interactive.
The 'Untitled John Wick Game' will feature an original gameplay narrative set in the John Wick timeline, years before the 'Impossible Task'. It will expand on the franchise's lore. The franchise consists of four hit films which have generated more than $1 billion worldwide. The John Wick universe also includes the television series The Continental and the spin-off film Ballerina. Another film following the events of John Wick: Chapter 4 and a new film starring Donnie Yen as Caine are also in development.
