The German Football Association's esports competition has a new sponsor: frozen pizza manufacturer Original Wagner Pizza has acquired the advertising rights for the DFB-ePokal powered by ERGO. Henning Wegter, Director Partnerships & Sales at DFB and Oliver Schoß, Head of Marketing at Original Wagner Pizza announced the deal today.

As a new co-partner, the frozen pizza manufacturer Original Wagner Pizza now has acquired the advertising rights for the German Football Association's ePokal competition DFB-ePokal powered by ERGO.

“With the DFB's ePokal, we have found a platform on which we can not only reach the young target group directly in an emotional environment, but can also offer the gaming community real added value with our offer,” says Oliver Schoß, Head of Marketing at Original Wagner Pizza. “We continue to play on this theme on our social media sites, for example in the tried-and-tested collaboration with our successful content creators.”

“With Original Wagner Pizza, we have gained another strong partner for our eFootball competition,” says Henning Wegter, Director Partnerships & Sales at DFB GmbH & Co. KG. “With their focus on young target groups, Original Wagner Pizza and the DFB ePokal can complement each other very well. We are delighted to be breaking new ground in sponsorship activation in eFootball with Wagner.”

In the DFB-ePokal powered by ERGO, the largest nationwide eFootball competition, both amateur teams and professionals from all over Germany compete against each other. The football simulation game EA Sports FC 24 is played on the console. Last season, the finalists played in front of the sold-out event location of the DFB Campus and for prize money totalling 100,000 euros.
