As with every year, Apple has honoured outstanding apps and games on the App Store. The iPhone Game of the Year is AFK Journey from Farlight Games. The Apple Arcade Game of the Year is Balatro+ from Playstack. Several games are also among the Cultural Impact Winners.

Apple has announced the winners of the 2024 App Store Awards. "We are thrilled to honor this impressive group of developers who are harnessing the power of Apple devices and technology to deliver experiences that enrich the lives of users and have a profound impact on their communities," said Tim Cook, Apple's CEO. "The remarkable achievements of this year’s winners demonstrate the incredible ingenuity that can be unlocked through apps."

In the gaming category, AFK Journey wins iPhone Game of the Year, while Squad Busters is the iPad Game of the Year. Thank Goodness You're Here! was named Mac Game of the Year, and on Apple Arcade, Balatro+ was crowned Game of the Year. Two prizes were also awarded for Apple Vision Pro. One went to 'What If... ? An Immersive Story' from Marvel Studios, ILM Immersive and Disney+ (Apple Vision Pro App of the Year) and Thrasher: Arcade Odyssey from Puddle (Apple Vision Pro Game of the Year).

Cultural Impact winners include NYT Games (word and logic puzzles) from The New York Times Company, the 3D visual novel The Wreck from The Pixel Hunt, the social media role-playing game about HIV Do You Really Want to Know 2 from Gamtropy Co. and the language learning tool EF Hello from Signum International AG in Düsseldorf. Apple defines the Cultural Impact category as follows "In addition to recognizing apps and games across Apple devices, App Store Editors also selected six Cultural Impact winners, recognizing the lasting impact these apps and games have made in users’ lives and communities. This year’s winners empowered users to tap into their intellectual curiosity, fostered connection among family and friends, and championed a more accessible world."
