Arc Games, a publisher of AAA and indie titles for PC and console, has formally established itself as an independent video game publisher following a successful management buyout from Embracer Group, with financial support from XD Inc., a Chinese provider of digital entertainment services, particularly in gaming and online platforms.
As part of the transition, Arc Games will maintain its existing organisational structure, including the continued leadership of Chief Executive Officer Yoon Im and the entire team. With independence, Arc Games plans to expand its publishing footprint across platforms and genres. The company is preparing to unveil new titles, forge new partnerships with global development studios and continue investing in the long-term support of its diverse portfolio.
"This milestone marks a major new chapter for Arc Games," said Yoon Im, CEO of Arc Games. "We appreciate our time being part of Embracer Group and the accomplishments achieved since the company's inception over 15 years ago. These experiences have shaped who we are today. As an independent publisher, we are now positioned to more fully pursue our vision - collaborating with exceptional developers worldwide and bringing standout games to market. 2026 is already shaping up to be one of the most ambitious and innovative years in our history, and we are excited for what lies ahead."
The company was founded in 2008 as Perfect World Entertainment and later rebranded as Arc Games. The publisher is known for Neverwinter, Star Trek Online, Remnant II, Remnant: From the Ashes, the Torchlight franchise and, most recently, Fellowship. Arc Games has also supported an expanding portfolio of indie titles, including Frosthaven and Have a Nice Death.
Following the company's split, Embracer respectively the Coffee Stain Group will retain the rights to the recently released online game Fellowship. The Coffee Stain Group is set to spin off from Embracer in December through an IPO. The publishing rights to the Remnant brand titles were not transferred as part of the sale either. These remain with Embracer and will be transferred to THQ Nordic in Vienna, which also holds the IP rights.
