The Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack brings players back together with alchemist Reisalin Stout and her friends in a collection of the three "Secret" series titles. The bundle includes remastered and expanded versions of Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout (2019), Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy (2020), and Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key (2023). The individual games are also available and can be recognised by the 'DX' suffix in the title.

This is the first time in the Atelier series that the same protagonist has been featured across multiple titles. The story follows Ryza, an ordinary girl who discovers alchemy and embarks on a summer adventure with her friends, through which she grows as a person.

The first game depicts Ryza's coming-of-age story as she and her friends come into contact with alchemy and set out on a grand adventure involving the secrets of their island home. In the DX version of Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout, players experience additional events that occur in parallel with the main story, alongside new playable characters: Agatha, Kilo and Romy. A new scenario depicting the events leading to Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy DX is also included.

The second game sees Ryza and her friends searching for gates to the Underworld. Players can discover a new side story featuring Empel and Lila, as well as additional events in which they will encounter the pair. Fi follows Ryza around the field, providing support. Fi expands the range of the sensor map, restores HP after combat and offers other assistance.

In Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key DX, Ryza's final adventure in the trilogy, she and her friends set out to save their island. Players can experience a new side story featuring Clifford and Serri after they part ways with Ryza, as well as an additional character event centring around Kilo.

Yashichiro Takahashi, the scenario writer of the 'Secret' series, created the new story elements in each DX edition, which fit organically into each game. All three titles feature quality-of-life improvements, including increased basket and container capacity, an enhanced UI/UX, Spirit Beast functions (Ryza 2), improved graphics, additional graphical options and further elements to enrich the 'Secret' journey. These include a 'Custom Combat' mode and costumes inspired by party dresses and tuxedos. Apart from the new content, which blends in seamlessly and convincingly, all DLC and updates for the original game are included. The graphical improvements are more akin to a remaster and could be taken further, particularly in the first part. No deeper adjustments or improvements to the gameplay have been made. However, according to user reviews, the DX versions on PC seem to have performance issues and long loading times.

Koei Tecmo has already released two games from the Atelier series this year: Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land on 21 March 2025 and Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian on 26 September 2025. While Atelier Yumia introduced real-time combat and became more mainstream, Atelier Resleriana focused more on the tried-and-tested formula. The publisher has now re-released three more games from the series in a bundle, namely the 'Secret' series, which has been the most successful of the long-established franchise to date. This began in 2019 with Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout. The trilogy concluded in 2023 with Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key. Remarkably, together the three games have sold over 2.5 million units worldwide, despite the fact that the Atelier series has sold 7.8 million copies in total - the first Atelier game was Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg, released in 1997 for PlayStation.

The Atelier series is a Japanese RPG (JRPG) franchise centred on alchemy, developed by Gust. Gust was acquired by Koei Tecmo at the end of 2011. Koei Tecmo Europe, based in Letchworth, Hertfordshire, UK, is a publisher of interactive entertainment software for current generation consoles, handhelds, and digital download content. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Koei Tecmo Holdings, which is headquartered in Yokohama, Japan. Koei Tecmo is best known for its signature "one versus thousands" Warriors (Musou) series, as well as Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive.

The Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack was released on 13 November 2025 for PlayStation 5 and 4, Nintendo Switch 2 and 1, and Windows PC via Steam. Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout DX and Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key DX include Japanese voices with English text only. Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy DX includes Japanese voices with both English and French text.

Individual DX games are available for €39.99 each, while the Trilogy Deluxe Pack retails at €89.99. As upgrade options are not available for owners of the original versions, the DX games are aimed more at new players. However, it is a missed opportunity not to offer this successful series on Xbox consoles.

Conclusion

The DX versions and the Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack offer a comprehensive and enhanced experience, making them the perfect introduction to this popular and heartwarming JRPG series for new players. Unfortunately, there is no upgrade path available for those who already own the game.
