Tomorrow, Austria’s biggest pop culture event becomes ten years old: Vienna Comic Con, VIECC for short, starts into its second decade on 22 November 2025. To celebrate, the Austrian post office and the fair are cooperating on a celebratory stamp with a Polish touch: A dual stamp in an Art Nouveau style inspired by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt by CD Projekt Red, designed by Polish graphic designer Krzysztof Domaradzki, will be given out by the post. The stamp shows Ciri and Geralt facing each other on each stamp, each being worth 1.55 euros.
The post office explains the game and design choices like this: “The spectacular anniversary stamp block combines gaming culture with art: 2015 also saw the release of the video role-playing game “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” by Polish developer CD Projekt Red, based on the Witcher saga, which has had a significant influence on pop culture. The designer, who is also from Poland, drew inspiration from Viennese Art Nouveau for the block's design. It features characters from the game in an elaborately designed frame decorated with flowers and ornaments. The print run of 125,100 copies refers to the fictional year 1251, when Ciri, one of the main characters, was born. Austrian Post will have its own booth at Vienna Comic Con 2025.”
The stamp can be bought at any Austrian post office as long as supply lasts.
