Aesir's The Legend of Khiimori Drops Windstorm IP
The new game from Aesir Interactive was originally intended for release as a Windstorm game. Now, Aesir, NightinGames and the game's publisher, Mindscape, have agreed with Alias Entertainment to remove the Windstorm brand from the game.
The Legend of Khiimori will no longer be branded as a Windstorm game (also known as Ostwind in Germany). The two development studios, Aesir Interactive and NightinGames, and the game's publisher, Mindscape, have reached an agreement with the IP holder, Alias Entertainment. According to the company's statement, this will allow for more creative freedom while ensuring that the original spirit and core experience of the game remain unchanged.
The original wording of Aesir's statement is as follows: "Today, we're announcing a change to the title of our upcoming game, which will be known as The Legend of Khiimori moving forward. This decision reflects the evolving creative direction of the project. As the game has grown, shaped by the in-depth feedback and enthusiasm of our community, so has our vision for what The Legend of Khiimori can become.
As a result, we have reached a mutual agreement with Alias Entertainment to remove the Windstorm brand from the game. We're excited to expand on our unique setting in 13th century Mongolia and explore the new creative opportunities that this change opens up. The original spirit and core experience of the game will remain the same, but now we can push it even further.
We're incredibly thankful for the continued support and interest in the project, and we look forward to sharing more as The Legend of Khiimori moves into its next chapter."
The Legend of Khiimori is set to be released in Early Access in November 2025. It is a system-driven game in which players explore the land of 13th-century Mongolia as courier riders. Players can breed and train horses with specialised abilities to help them explore the game world.
