Uniliga Starts Campus Tour at German Universities
The Uniliga campus tour starts in Hannover and will also visit universities in Bielefeld and Berlin. The tour gives students the opportunity to get in touch with companies and esports clubs.
To mark the start of the winter semester at German universities, Uniliga, Germany's largest student gaming league, is launching its campus tour - with a gaming area, seating and a Just Dance area. The focus of the tour is to connect people interested in gaming and to exchange ideas about career opportunities in gaming and esports as a tool for employer branding.
The following locations will be visited in October: - Leibniz Universität Hannover, 14 October, 10.00-17.00, in front of the hanoMacke e. V. - Universität Bielefeld, 16 October, 10.00-17.00, on the lawn in front of the main building - Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, 17 October, 10.00-17.00, in front of Forum Adlershof
Local esports clubs will also take part in the campus tour and answer questions: University eSports Hannover, the Bielefeld eSports Alliance and University Esports Berlin. "With our campus tour we want to get more students interested in esports and gaming and especially strengthen the local clubs and teams," explains Fabian Fromm, founder and product manager of Uniliga. "On the other hand, we want to engage more with local students and enable our partners to get in touch with them." The tour is part of Uniliga's grassroots approach.
Uniliga is accompanied and supported by various partners. AMD is providing laptops for gaming in the gaming area. Hanuta Riegel and RedBull are providing snacks and drinks, and Ubisoft is hosting a Just Dance area where up to four players can dance at the same time. Uniliga not only organises esports competitions and championships, but also connects companies with students. "More and more companies are recognising that esports and gaming provide valuable skills that can be of significant benefit in the workplace: from English language skills to an affinity for technology and critical thinking. As an employer, Uniliga enables young professionals to enter the esports industry," writes Uniliga.
The Uniliga is the largest university esports league in Germany and a project of the start-up company UNI eSports GmbH, which was originally founded by students and has been the most important contact point for esports at German universities since 2014. The Uniliga currently has more than 4,000 active players in over 600 teams at around 200 locations.
On 14 September 2024, the Uniliga summer season culminated with the offline finals in the disciplines of Valorant and League of Legends. For the first time, the finals were held in Hamburg at Xperion Hamburg. The teams from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology won both the Valorant and League of Legends finals.
