Two live service games currently in development at Bluepoint Games and Bend Studio have been cancelled by Sony Interactive Entertainment. However, studio closures have been ruled out for the time being.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed to Bloomberg the cancellation of two games in development. Both were live service games in production at Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games. The media report states that the decision was the result of a recent internal review. At the same time, it is said that neither studio will be closed. Sony Interactive Entertainment will now work with both studios to decide which projects to pursue next.

It is not yet known what project Bend Studio (Days Gone) was working on. Bluepoint Games, which was responsible for the Demon's Souls remake, was developing a live service God of War game, according to Jason Schreier. Bluepoint, which joined the PlayStation Studio family in September 2021, had already contributed to God of War Ragnarök.

Such cancellations, even of major projects, are not uncommon in the industry, but they do show that Sony is reducing the number of future GaaS titles, given that the company scored a huge hit with Helldivers 2 last year, while Concord flopped.
