As in previous years, the BAFTA Games Awards ceremony took place during London Games Week and was one of the highlights of the week-long event in the British capital. Thanks to their format and the BAFTA name, which is internationally renowned in the entertainment world, the BAFTA Games Awards are also considered among the industry’s most prestigious awards. And just as at the Game Awards, the DICE Awards and the Game Developer Choice Awards, Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 was among the clear favourites. In the end, the French title secured three BAFTAs, matching the number of trophies won by Dispatch.
However, Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 managed to secure the most prestigious awards. The title not only won the Best Debut category but also Best Game. Jennifer English also won the BAFTA for Best Performer in a Leading Role. Dispatch won BAFTAs in Animation, Audio Achievement and Performer in a Supporting Role for Jeffrey Wright. Ghost of Yotei won two BAFTAs: Music and Technical Achievement. Atomfall won British Game
Supercell CEO and co-founder Ilkka Paananen was recognised for his outstanding contribution to games with a BAFTA Fellowship.
