      The Games Baked in Germany 2024 Showcase featured numerous games from Germany. These included titles from btf, Assemble, Kalypso, rokaplay, Toplitz, Gentle Troll, GrizzlyGames, Headup Games, Hooded Horse, Egosoft, Screen Juice and many more. The showcase demonstrated the diversity of games made in Germany.
To coincide with the Games Baked in Germany Steam Sale organised by Games Germany, a number of German games were showcased on IGN. The event, which lasted almost 40 minutes, was hosted by Daniel Staubesandt and produced by Nerdstar.
The event kicked off with Gentle Troll Entertainment's Tavern Talk, which was released yesterday. Bleakmill and Headup Games then gave a glimpse of the gameplay of Industria 2. The recently announced Star Birds by Toukana Interactive and kurzgesagt was also shown, with a focus on building things on asteroids. Next up was Solarpunk, a survival game set in a technologically advanced world of floating islands, from Cyberwave and rokaplay.
Publisher 505 Games and developer Ion Lands from Berlin have announced that the slice-of-life simulation and restaurant management game Nivalis will launch in spring 2025. The latest trailer featured never-before-seen locations, train travel and story hints from Ava, one of the main characters.
Spellgarden Games and Assemble Entertainment present the Pride update for Sticky Business. "Recognising themselves in a game can be incredibly empowering," says Spellgarden Games. "We hope that everyone who plays our games will find a character they can identify with. That's why we try to tell stories with characters from different backgrounds, genders and sexual orientations." Speaking of Assemble Entertainment, Endzone 2, which is being developed by gentlymad in Wiesbaden, was also part of the showcase and set the mood for the survival colony builder in a post-apocalyptic world. The game is scheduled to go into Early Access in the third quarter. The first playable demo of Endzone 2 was released as part of the Steam Next Fest and has recorded over 50,000 downloads within a week, making it one of the 50 most played demos.
Publisher Toplitz Productions and Munich-based development studio Don VS Dodo present the first in-game trailer for Industrie Gigant 4.0, the revival of the Gigant series. The economic simulation will be released in Early Access later this year. Speaking of classic sequels, Claymore Game Studios and Kalypso Media were there with a new trailer for Commandos: Origins. It is scheduled for release in 2024. The publisher from Worms also presented the expansion Tropico 6 - Tropican Shores, developed by Realmforge Studios. astragon Entertainment and Aesir Interactive showcased the recently released Highway Patrol Expansion for Police Simulator: Patrol Officers.
Tiny Roar, rokaplay and Megabit Publishing have released a trailer for Lou's Lagoon. In the game, players traverse the Limbo Archipelago in search of Uncle Lou, who has mysteriously disappeared, leaving the player with his seaplane delivery service. Megabit is the new publishing arm launched by Aonic to support the company’s first and third party video game studios. Aonic is the majority shareholder of Tiny Roar.
Mellow Games has released the gameplay trailer for the psychological narrative game Blueberry. A demo is available to download via Steam and can be played in German for the first time during the Games Germany Steam Event. In Blueberry, players take on the role of a woman from childhood to old age.
All six of Hooded Horse's titles from the GSA region are taking part, with special highlights for Super Fantasy Kingdom and Fata Deum during the broadcast of the event. Super Fantasy Kingdom, from solo developer Feryaz Beer, was one of the most played demos at the Steam Next Fest and will be released in Q1 2025. 42 Bits Entertainment CEO Christoph Schulze showed off new gameplay from Fata Deum. The god game will be released later this year. Other German developed games from Hooded Horse's catalogue taking part in the Steam event include Sons of Valhalla (Pixel Chest), Menace (Overhype Studio), Hexxen: Hunters (Ulisses Spiele Digital) and Drill Keeper (ShoulderByte). German-made games currently represent around 20% of the publisher's portfolio.
Backwoods Entertainment and Application Systems Heidelberg present We Stay Behind, a third-person, single-player mystery set between dream and reality. A comet is on course to destroy a small town, but its inhabitants refuse to leave. The player must unravel the secrets of this picturesque town.
Egosoft celebrated the release of Major Update 7.00 for X4: Foundations, along with the new expansion, X4: Timelines. These updates bring a wealth of new content and enhancements to the space simulation sandbox game. Crafting Legends provided a sneak peek at the upcoming Death Trash content update, which will feature the Perished City at the centre of the game's world map. GrizzlyGames' highly successful Thronefall will be leaving Early Access later this year.
btf have revealed their new character-driven first-person adventure in development for PC, PlayStation and Xbox, The Berlin Apartment. The game's story is told in a series of episodes over the course of the last century. Each episode tells its own story - with its own protagonists, in its own genre, with a very different atmosphere. What links these stories together is a historic apartment in Berlin that serves as the setting. “We’re really excited to unveil The Berlin Apartment to the world with our debut trailer,” said Game Director Hans Böhme. "We've got lots more to share in the future when it comes to the variety of genres and stories you’ll be diving into and how that impacts on what you are doing with the game. For now, we’d like to embrace the spirit of the game and leave you with a bit of mystery..."
Screen Juice from Cologne presented Morbid Metal, a hack 'n' slash action rogue-lite where players can transform into unique characters to fight enemies with powerful combos. Other highlights of the show included PVKK: Planetenverteidigungskanonenkommandant and Ferocious.
