The nominees for the Deutscher Entwicklerpreis 2025 (German Developer Award) have been announced. From 244 submissions, the expert juries selected the best computer games of the year from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Following the work of the 175-strong Grand Jury, the nominations for the top category, Best German Game, have now been finalised. Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, The Darkest Files, and Tiny Bookshop are in the running for the most important award.
With five nominations, The Darkest Files from Berlin-based studio Paintbucket Games is in with a strong chance of winning one or more awards. Tiny Bookshop from Neoludic Games in Cologne received four nominations. Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders from the Berlin-based studio Megagon Industries received nominations in three categories. CipSoft in Regensburg, the Zurich-based studio Stray Fawn, and Toukana Interactive in Berlin have been nominated for Studio of the Year.
Around 500 guests from the German games industry are expected to attend the gala ceremony at the Gürzenich in Cologne. The evening will once again be hosted by Daniel Budiman and Lynne Glaner. The Deutscher Entwicklerpreis (German Developer Award) has been presented annually since 2004. It recognises exceptional contributions to the development of video and computer games in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The award is politically independent and supported by the games industry. The award ceremony is organised by games.nrw e.V., an interest group that represents the digital games industry in North Rhine-Westphalia.
