4A Games and Zen Studios Will Remain Within Embracer Group
The Embracer Group has completed the divestment of Saber Interactive. The Swedish group has received an early payment for the sale of the Saber assets, while 4A Games and Zen Studios will remain within the Embracer Group.
The Swedish Embracer Group announces the receipt of $168.4 million as an early payment for the sale of the Saber assets (around 152 million Euros). In addition, Embracer will receive further payments of $28.1 million in 2024 and 2025, just over 25 million Euros. This settlement relates to the sale of selected assets of the former Saber Interactive operating group, which was announced on 14 March 2024 and completed on 28 March 2024. With this payment, all obligations related to the transaction, including financial obligations, are now fully settled. As previously announced, the sale was made to Beacon Interactive, a company controlled by Saber Interactive co-founder Matthew Karch.
"The settlement concludes the financial aspects of the transaction, with the total payment reflecting both the early settlement of the promissory notes and the cancellation of the option for the buyer to acquire 4A Games and Zen Studios", the Swedish company stated. 4A Games (founded in Kiev, now based in Malta), known for the Metro franchise published by Deep Silver (Plaion), is currently working on two AAA titles. Zen Studios, based in Budapest, Hungary, are best known for their pinball games, but also for CastleStorm.
"We are satisfied with the conclusion of this transaction and very glad to see the great teams and assets of 4A Games and Zen Studios remain within Embracer. They will be important building blocks in our continued journey. 4A Games has currently two AAA titles under development that we eagerly await to announce," says Lars Wingefors, co-founder and CEO of Embracer. He continues: "I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Matthew Karch for his contributions over the years, and at the same time congratulate the Saber team on the successful release of the iconic Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, that will make a great start in their new structure."
