A few days after the end of this year's Oktoberfest, Bayer's Digital Minister Fabian Mehring visited K5 Factory. The studio also developed “Oktoberfest - The Official Game” with funding and is working on Illumina Twin, a tool for virtual production lighting.

Shortly before Oktoberfest, K5 Factory released an update to its “Oktoberfest – The Official Game” for Meta Quest. A few days after Oktoberfest 2025, the studio received a high-profile political visitor: Bavaria's Minister of Digital Affairs, Dr. Fabian Mehring, visited the Munich-based studio, which is part of the K5 Media Group.

“With projects such as ‘Oktoberfest – The Official Game,’ a Bavarian studio is impressively demonstrating how tradition and state-of-the-art technology can come together. As Minister of Digital Affairs, I am committed to promoting such creative excellence – it is both a digital location advantage and a cultural ambassador,” said Mehring.

The game, which was released in early access in 2024 and launched as a full release with the latest update, was financially supported by Bavarian funding, among other sources.

But K5 Media Group, which has its origins in the film business, is more than just a content producer. According to the company, its current projects also include the Illumina Twin project, a digital twin for virtual production lighting. This synchronizes real and digital lighting situations, thereby optimizing processes on film and virtual production sets. K5 says that further innovations related to virtual production are in the pipeline. There are even plans to expand the group to include the company K5 Lux AI, which will bundle these innovations.
