Mit einer erweiterten Konferenzstrecke, die erstmals auch mit zahlreichen Workshops aufwartet, wollen sich die E3-Veranstalter auf der diesjährigen Messe profilieren. Der reine Show Act soll deswegen aber nicht zu kurz kommen.

Die Interactive Digital Software Association (IDSA) hat Details zur kommenden E3 2002 bekannt gegeben. Sein Augenmerk richtet der Verband auf ein stark erweitertes Konferenzprogramm, im Rahmen dessen zum ersten Mal Workshops veranstaltet werden sollen. "Die Topics werden die dynamische und komplexe Natur der Interactive Entertainment-Industrie reflektieren", verspricht IDSA-President Doug Lowenstein. "Die E3 ist nicht nur eine Plattform, um die neuesten Computer- und Videospiele zu sehen, sondern auch ein Forum für Professionals, die ihre Fähigkeiten erweitern und Ideen teilen wollen." Die Referentenliste ist hochkarätig besetzt. So werden u. a. Richard Garriott (NC Soft), Lorne Lanning (Oddworld Inhabitants), American McGee (Carbon 6), Peter Molyneux (Lionhead Studios), Yu Suzuki (Sega), Bruce Shelley (Ensemble Studios), Warren Spector (Ion Storm), Will Wright (Maxis) und Alex St. John (Wild Tangent) erwartet.
