Die Video- und Gamesindustrie wird es mit Skepsis aufnehmen: Das Auktionshaus eBay hat zwei Onlinebörsen im Heimatland der Raubkopierer in Taiwan zum Preis von 10,98 Mio. Euro erworben. Laut eBay wolle man die beiden Portale Ubid.com und Bid.Com als zwei Marken ausbauen und damit den Einstieg in den riesigen chinesischen Markt schaffen. Im Gegenzug wird eBay seine japanische Onlinetauschbörse aufgrund mangelnden Erfolgs schließen. Als Grund für die schlechten Ergebnisse in Japan führte ein Unternehmenssprecher den ungünstig gewählten Markteintritt an. Ein erneutes Engagement zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt schloss er nicht aus.
