Right in time for gamescom, the German Entertainment Software Self-Regulation Body (USK) and the Digital Game Culture Foundation (Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur) have released their updated Parents' Guide to Games.

The German Entertainment Software Self-Regulation Body (USK) and the Digital Game Culture Foundation (Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur) have published their new guide for parents on the safe use of digital games at the start of gamescom in Cologne. The guide is an update on the parents' guide from 2017 that takes into account the developments and insights of recent years.

"Digital games have long been part of children's lives. Our new ‘Parents’ Guide to Digital Games: Games? Of course!' provides guidance, answers questions, and encourages parents to actively engage with their children's gaming behavior. Age ratings are an important reference point, but conversations, interest, and shared rules are just as important. At USK, we support parents in safely and competently guiding their children's digital gaming," says Elisabeth Secker, Managing Director of Entertainment Software Self-Regulation (USK).

"With the new parent guide, we want to show parents the opportunities offered by digital games and encourage them to actively and responsibly guide their children. Games offer a wide range of learning and development opportunities, and it is important to us to support parents in recognizing and utilizing this potential. We are delighted that the guide is now available free of charge to help families get started with a positive and enriching gaming experience," explains Nandita Wegehaupt, Managing Director of the Digital Game Culture Foundation.

The new parents' guide “Elternratgeber digitale Spiele: Games? Na sicher!” is now available free of charge, both as a brochure that can be ordered from the USK and as a PDF download.
