Kalypso Media and Gaming Minds Studios announced their latest and perhaps most important project at gamescom: Tropico 7 will be released in 2026 for PC and consoles.
Kalypso Media and Gaming Minds Studios unveil: Tropico 7 is set to launch in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
"With Tropico 7, we open a new chapter in city-building, politics, and economics - giving players more control and complexity than ever, while preserving the mischief and satire fans love," says Daniel Dumont, Studio and Creative Director at Gaming Minds Studios. "This isn't just a sequel, it’s the ultimate sandbox for would-be dictators. El Presidente would say: 'The best Tropico ever - because it's mine!'"
Tropico 7 remains faithful to the original gameplay, while introducing some new features. For the first time, the new Council puts El Presidente in direct contact with faction leaders, who he can charm, manipulate or simply ignore. Thanks to the new terraforming feature, players can shape entire islands at will: fill in land, divert rivers, and design new parks. The new political alignment system allows players to choose a dictatorial style, unlocking customised decrees aimed at keeping the Tropicans either satisfied or sufficiently intimidated. All of this is supported by a revamped military system.
