Business talks for trade visitors, tournaments and quiz shows for consumers - the programme for the first NERDICon in Leipzig is being finalised. One of the highlights will be the 'FuckUp Night', where industry professionals will talk about their personal failures and lessons learned.

From 19 to 21 September, NERDICon LE will be making its debut in Leipzig as a new gaming event that appeals to trade visitors and consumers alike. The Business Days are planned for 19 and 20 September at the Macromedia University of Applied Sciences in Leipzig. They are organised under the motto ‘Learn & Connect’ and aim to provide an exchange of ideas on topics such as funding opportunities, games marketing, publishing, game development and the special features of the games industry in Central Germany (Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt).

Melvin Frank from Instinct3 will report on the agency's first experiences as a publisher, Serkan Yücebas on In-Car Entertainment and lawyer Renate Schmid on AI and the limits of copyright law. Erik Patzschke (City of Leipzig), Sarah Weding (MDM) and Melanie Fussenegger (Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur) will talk about the funding landscape in Germany, Paul Dahlhoff from OG Collective about gaming in brand communication and recruiting, Thierry Baujard from Spielfabrique about games financing and Mafalda Duarte (Studio Director & Producer Telescope Game Studios) about challenges of studio culture design. Numerous other presentations are also planned.

On the evening of 19 September, the ‘FuckUp Night’ format will take place at R42, a second venue. Here, industry professionals share personal failures and lessons learnt. Among others, Benjamin Scharff from Sparrow Games has confirmed his attendance, Michael Liebe from Booster Space and Markus Bonk from R42.

On Saturday, 21 September, a gaming festival for all ages will take place at Werk 2, the third event location. The programme includes stage shows, indie booths and gaming stations, as well as a retro area. A tournament with Leipzig eSports e.V., interactive beat'em up games with Nerdistan and a gaming and nerd quiz are planned on the stage. The ‘German Garrison’, Germany's largest Star Wars costume club, is also organising an appearance.
