One single day track will once again be dedicated to games at the 21st edition of SoundTrack_Cologne. Even if gaming is only a marginal topic, the line-up is all the better. Alongside Tom Salta and Petri Alanko, Helge Borgarts was able to inspire Grammy winners Stephen Barton and Gordy Haab to visit Cologne.

SoundTrack_Cologne 2024 is the 21st edition of the specialist congress for music and sound in film, games and media, and a source of inspiration for the growing landscape of festivals and congresses in Europe. In over 40 round tables, panels, workshops and networking events, SoundTrack_Cologne focuses on current developments in culture, law, marketing and technics of media music and offers business cases and networking events. And one afternoon is all about composing for games.

The games section has been curated for years by Helge Borgarts, himself a composer and audio director. And he has put together a high-calibre line-up, although gaming tends to be a small part of the conference at SoundTrack_Cologne. On 3 July, Tom Salta, Playerunknown's Battlegrounds and Deathloop, will open the workshop and discussion day at 10.30 am. At 12.00 pm, Stephen Barton and Gordy Haab, the winners of this year's Grammy Awards for Games, will take to the stage to talk about their work on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The fourth speaker of the day is Petri Alanko, who worked on Alan Wake, Alan Wake II and Control. Finally, there will be a roundtable with all four speakers.

SoundTrack_Cologne takes place from 2 to 6 July and consists of a congress including a festival and several competitions. More information about the programme and tickets can be found on the event website.
