Blaze Entertainment Reveales First NeoGeo Cartridge for Evercade
Blaze Entertainment announced a total of six new products at yesterday's Evercade Showcase, including the first of many upcoming NeoGeo cartridges and new Super Pocket products.
It was the third showcase that Blaze Entertainment organised under the brand name of its retro console line Evercade. The British company presented three new Evercade cartridges and three new Super Pocket Handhelds – one of them is a limited edition –, which Blaze markets under the brand HyperMegaTech!
Probably the most important announcement was the revealing of the first series of NeoGeo games. Blaze Entertainment will release the NeoGeo Arcade 1 cartridge in July, bringing a first wave of 6 NeoGeo games to Evercade consoles. Further cartridges are scheduled to be released over the course of 2025 and 2026. Blaze Entertainment and SNK announced a license agreement in December 2024.
At the same time, Blaze Entertainment has also announced the Super Pocket NeoGeo Edition, which will be released in June and includes a total of 14 games. There is also a limited special edition of the Super Pocket NeoGeo Edition in MVS style, limited to 3000 units.
"We’re incredibly pleased to bring Evercade and retro gaming fans such a wide range of NeoGeo games across our cartridges and a unique offering with the Super Pockets," said Blaze Entertainment CEO, Andrew Byatt. "These first releases offer a great selection of NeoGeo titles and, with this being an anniversary year, we hope it excites fans across the world with what is still to come from this exciting partnership."
In addition, the two cartridges Gremlin Collection 2 and Windjammers, Karnov & Friends Arcade Collection were announced as part of the showcase. Both were released in June and are available to pre-order from April.
Last but not least, Blaze announced another product for the HyperMegaTech line-up with the Super Pocket Data East Edition, which will also be released in June. The Super Pocket handhelds are compatible with all Evercade cartridges, so buyers can not only use the pre-installed 18 games from the Data East era, but also the entire Evercade catalogue. According to the company, this now consists of over 500 licensed games, which have been released on over 60 physical cartridges.
