Franziska Giffey, Senator for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises in Berlin, has been championing the gaming industry and esports in the capital for years. So it comes as no surprise that the politician also took part in the panel discussion organised by esports organisation G2 at its headquarters in Berlin.

The discussion, which was attended by G2 executives Alban Dechelotte and Sabrina Ratih, also featured Esports Player Foundation MD Julius Althof and FIFA World Champion and content creator Mo Auba. The discussion covered a range of esports-related topics, including how Germany can remain competitive as a location compared to other global hubs, what good cooperation between politicians and the industry might look like, and what the recognition of esports as a non-profit activity could mean for organisations such as G2 and the Esports Player Foundation.
