Nerdicon in Leipzig Is the New Event for the Saxon Gaming Scene
This year Nerdicon celebrates its premiere. The event is described as the 'new leading event' for the gaming and start-up scene in Leipzig and the surrounding area. R42, Marcus Klöppel and Nerdic are behind the event.
A new event for the gaming scene in Central Germany: Nerdicon LE (short: Nerdicon) will celebrate its premiere from 19 to 21 September 2024. The aim of the event is to promote local games, developers and start-ups and to increase their visibility nationally and internationally. The event will take place at R42 in Leipzig, co-organised by Gecko Two and Werk 2 - Kulturfabrik Leipzig. Tickets are available, 50 Euros for all three days, 25 Euros for Indies/Startups.
The event consists of two business days (19 and 20 September) and a community day (21 September). The theme of the first two days is Meet & Connect. Startups, developers, indie studios, publishers, investors and producers from the Central German region will present their projects and will connect with each other. In addition to panels and keynotes, there will be mentoring sessions and expert talks (application form for speakers and mentors).
On the third day (21 September) Nerdicon will open its doors to the public. Together with RetroGamesCon, Nerdicon will transform Werk 2 at the Connewitzer Kreuz into a "small gaming festival". The community day offers exhibition space and product demonstrations for indie studios and companies, gaming stations, esports, cosplay, stage shows and information formats. The retro event (including a retro market) will take place in the large hall of the factory from 11:00 to 16:00 and is organised by RetroGamesCon. Interested companies and indie studios can apply (info@nerdicon.de) to exhibit until 31 August 2024.
The organisers of Nerdicon are R42 (Gecko Two), Marcus Klöppel (Professor of Game Design & Development at the Leipzig Campus of the Macromedia University of Applied Sciences) and Nerdic. "Together they have set themselves the goal of establishing and promoting Leipzig as an important location for the games industry," the organisers write. The event builds on Marcus Klöppel's "Long Night of Computer Games", various consulting projects and the establishment of R42 by Gecko Two GmbH and Nerdic in Leipzig. Nerdicon LE combines all of these into a future annual event.
