Gamescom On Track for New Records with New Site Plan
Koelnmesse and game believe that gamescom 2025 is well on its way to setting new records. As of the reporting date, the number of registrations is up 11 per cent on last year. Various changes to the site will enable further growth.
Whether and by how much gamescom 2025 will ultimately exceed last year's record-breaking event will only be clear on the last day of the fair. But it is already clear that gamescom is well on its way to setting new records. This was announced today by the organisers of game and Koelnmesse at a digital press conference, to which the local media and the German business press were traditionally invited.
According to Tim Endres, gamescom Director at Koelnmesse, exhibitor registrations are up 11 per cent on last year. However, as there is always a lot of movement among smaller stands and sub-exhibitors right up to the event, it is not yet possible to predict exactly whether and by how much the number of exhibitors will exceed last year's figure. Last year, 1,462 exhibitors took part.
The same applies to visitor numbers. Here, too, the organisers are reluctant to make any predictions, although demand is very high. Koelnmesse and game have merely indicated that individual days are likely to be completely sold out again this year.
Various changes to the site plan and hall allocations also show that Cologne is gearing up for growth. However, there are no changes to the core area for trade visitors. The business area will once again extend across Halls 2, 3 and 4. Hall 1, on the other hand, is the new home of the event arena. This is where the Opening Night Live will take place on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, ‘The Witcher in Concert’ is planned, for which separate tickets are also required. On Thursday, Wargaming will be entertaining visitors to the arena with various activities and will round off the day with a concert by metal band Sabaton. On Friday and Saturday, various activities will take place on the Community Stage, including the Viva La Dirt League and the cosplay contest. On Sunday, the offline final of the ‘Die Techniker Prime League’, organised by Freaks 4U Gaming, will take place there.
The relocation of the event area will free up space in Hall 8, which will be completely dedicated to the entertainment area this year. This will increase the space available for potential exhibitors.
The indie area – primarily occupied by the Indie Arena Booth and Home of Indies community stands – will occupy half of Hall 10.2 for the first time this year.
"The figures speak for themselves. gamescom 2025 will once again be bigger, more exciting and the centre of the global gaming community. Together with the industry and strong partners, we will thrill fans and set new standards," says Tim Endres, Director of gamescom.
"Preparations for gamescom 2025 are in full swing and there are still a few weeks to go before it finally kicks off. But one thing is already clear: at the end of August, the gaming world will once again be playing at gamescom in Germany, and it will be more impressive and diverse than ever before," says Felix Falk, Managing Director of game – the German Games Industry Association.
