Koelnmesse and game have announced Thailand as this year’s official partner country for gamescom. The Southeast Asian nation is a flourishing gaming market and now also the new home of gamescom asia.

2025 marks a special year for the relationship between gamescom and Thailand. Just a few weeks ago, it was revealed that gamescom asia will no longer be held in Singapore but will instead take place alongside the Thailand Game Show in Bangkok.

Now, those ties are being strengthened even further: this year, Thailand will also serve as the official partner country of gamescom in Cologne. For the first time, Thailand will be represented with its own country pavilion at the event.

With a market volume of around 1.3 billion US dollars, Thailand ranks among the ten largest and fastest-growing gaming regions in Asia. The country aims to use its presence at gamescom to position itself as an attractive hub for game development, esports, and the digital creative industries.

"Thailand’s participation as gamescom’s partner country is a launchpad. It is our chance to showcase Thai innovation, creativity, and investment potential — and to invite the world to join us later this year at gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show in Bangkok", says Sunanta Kangvalkulkij, Director-General at the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP).

"Thailand is one of the most exciting and most dynamic games markets and is a driving force in the Southeast Asia region. We are thus looking forward to not only celebrating the new strong partnership at gamescom asia in Bangkok, but also by participating as the partner country at this year's gamescom in Germany," says Felix Falk Managing Director of game – The German Games Industry Association.

Oliver Frese, Chief Operating Officer of Koelnmesse, adds: "With Thailand as the partner country and the merger between gamescom asia and the Thailand Games Show we are setting a strong signal for our successful international growth strategy. The Thai market is a key element of this. It combines economic potential with strategic relevance for the entire Asia region. We are looking forward to a trusting cooperation with our new partners."
