There was a time, dear readers,

when publishers would send promotional teams out to high-street shops to draw customers’ attention to games. After all, the issue of visibility is certainly nothing new in the industry. Digital stores, with their now almost overwhelming number of new releases, have only multiplied the problem. Seen in this light, Steam sales events are something like the digital stores’ promotional agencies. But not every event suits every game, and vice versa. My colleague Marcel spoke to four indie studios about how to choose the right event for their game, what it actually achieved, and when the discounts associated with such events cause the value of the games to erode too quickly. There are some fascinating answers in store for our paid members.

Here are the news of the day!
