It‘s done! And it really wasn‘t an easy birth. But we are proud that the first printed GamesMarkt in English has seen the light of day.

This completes the switch to English that I promised you a few weeks ago in this space and on the web. Since the online service was switched over and especially since the German Computer Game Awards, which we of course feature in this issue, many people in the industry have contacted us. Most of the feedback has been positive. But even more interesting to me were those who told me that they were initially sceptical about our changeover. After the first two or three English news items, however, this scepticism disappeared as if by magic, one person told me. For one thing, English has long been a standard part of everyday life in the games industry, and for another, reading GamesMarkt is not like reading a whole book in English.

Well, not a book, that‘s true, but GamesMarkt is still a magazine. However, as we all know, a magazine also consists of various stories that you don‘t have to read all at once. That‘s what characterises the time-honoured print media format. And so I hope you enjoy browsing, discovering and consuming the many interviews, background stories and previews that we have put together for you this time in English.

There‘s a lot to discover, I promise. For example, we have the longstanding Co-CEO of astragon, Julia Pfiffer in our Woman in Games portrait. We also profile the studio Slime King Games, take a look at the upcoming Nordic Game and analyse the business of Hooded Horse, an incredibly interesting US publishing company, in a deep dive article. The developments at Tiny Roar, which we learnt about in an interview, are also interesting. And there‘s something else new in this issue of GamesMarkt: for the first time we shine a spotlight on what the two DMA & DSA legislative packages have in store for the games industry in general, but also for the protection of minors. And of course, as always — but this time in particular — we welcome your suggestions and criticism. All the best from the exhausted but happy GamesMarkt team.
