The forensic science simulator is being developed in cooperation between the Rhineland-Palatinate-based development studio Binary Impact and the Rhineland-Palatinate State Criminal Police Office (LKA RLP). The publisher is Aerosoft.
The project is supposed to “combine forensic practice with interactive teaching”. The title will be released for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. It can be added to the wishlist on Steam from today onwards.
Mario Germano, President of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Criminal Police Office, says:
“Forensic science is a central component of modern investigations. It thrives on precision, documentation, and professional expertise. The project can help to create a realistic understanding of this work.”
Dr. Sandra Merten, Head of Forensic Science at the Rhineland-Palatinate State Criminal Police Office, emphasizes: “It was important to us that forensic science was not presented as a mystery or a show, but as a structured process. Evidence must be secured cleanly, documented in a traceable manner, and evaluated professionally.”
Sebastian Pohl, managing director of Binary Impact, explains: “I think it's great that we were able to create a game based on the experiences of real experts from the State Criminal Police Office.”
Jens Wiechering, also Managing Director, classifies the project as an example of regional cooperation: “Forensics: Crime Scene Detective is an important flagship project for cooperation between a public authority and the private sector in Rhineland-Palatinate.”
The project was funded by Medienförderung Rheinland-Pfalz (Rhineland-Palatinate Media Fund) and the German Federal Government's computer game funding program.
