Editorial

We have received many compliments since we switched to English. But this was just the first step. In the future, GamesMarkt will only be published as a print magazine on specific occasions or topics.

Evolution cannot be stopped. And sometimes it happens faster than you expect. We always knew that the time of GamesMarkt as a periodical with regular issues would come to an end. The current market environment in the games industry has only accelerated this process. We have long noticed that B2B marketing is only done occasionally. At the same time, news and information are becoming faster and faster. This is not a new trend, of course not. For more than two decades, we have been covering the industry online ourselves.

Our GamesMarkt Daily newsletter and our website are part of the daily work routine for many in the GSA games industry. We know from your feedback that just as many people appreciate the medium of print and its ability to provide great background stories, analysis and deep dives. These will continue to be available, and it will continue to be available in print. Just like the “Working in Games” supplement that comes with this issue, which is as big as an issue itself. Such special issues, of which there will be at least six a year, if not more, are the future of GamesMarkt Print and will be sent to all subscribers.

What does this mean for our subscribers? At the beginning of the year we introduced a new subscription structure with three options: print, online and print+online. In the future there will only be one option, the GamesMarkt subscription. The price is the same as the previous print or online subscription. The duration of all existing print+online subscriptions will be extended according to the price already paid. If for any reason you are not happy with this, please contact me or my service colleagues and we will find a solution.

Despite all these changes, I’m excited about the direction we’re taking with the switch to English and the focus on Plus content on GamesMarkt online. Because one thing will never change: GamesMarkt is and will remain the competent, independent, neutral and objective companion for all current and future games professionals in their daily work.
