After 13 months of construction, Galaxus' second logistics center in Germany has begun operations and will be gradually expanded. The location is important for growth plans in Germany, but also for Galaxus' home market in Switzerland.

Online retailer Galaxus has reached an important milestone for further growth: after only 13 months of construction, the first warehouse in the company's new logistics center in Neuenburg am Rhein has begun operations. Initially, 50 employees will work there. However, the site is to be gradually expanded by 2030 and will ultimately provide jobs for 1,200 logistics specialists who will deliver goods to Germany, Switzerland, and other European countries from an area covering 60,000 square meters.

"We are incredibly proud of our employees at all locations who helped us get Neuenburg up and running in such a short time. The basic construction and initial tenant fit-outs have already been completed at ON1. We are currently still working on expanding the infrastructure, i.e., shelves, workstations, and our network. However, the first packages will be able to leave the warehouse by the end of this week," says Michael Stolle, COO of Digitec Galaxus AG and Managing Director of Galaxus Germany.

Florian Teuteberg, founder and CEO of Digitec Galaxus AG, adds: "Neuenburg will play an important role for our Swiss business. Our storage capacities in Switzerland are exhausted – with the new location, we are creating the conditions for further growth. We want to expand both in Switzerland and in the EU and reliably meet the growing needs of our customers. Neuchâtel am Rhein will make a decisive contribution to this.”

Galaxus, part of the Migros Group, is the largest online retailer in its home market of Switzerland, ahead of Amazon. For several years now, Galaxus, which sells games and consoles alongside many other product categories, has also been steadily expanding its business in Germany. It now also supplies customers in other countries, including France.
