With a 27 percent increase in sales, the German division of Swiss online retailer Galaxus has experienced significant growth. Compared to 2022, its sales have nearly doubled. However, the company is still far from achieving the same level of market dominance it enjoys in its Swiss home market.

In Switzerland, Digitec Galaxus, part of the Migros Group, remains the leading online retailer, even ahead of Amazon. The company’s total revenue last year reached 3.2 billion Swiss francs (3.4 billion euros), representing an 18 percent year-on-year increase. This marks the continuation of a strong growth trend. For comparison, in 2019, Digitec Galaxus reported a turnover of just 1.146 billion Swiss francs.

Germany remains a critical growth driver for the business. Sales in the country increased from 286 million euros in 2023 to 362 million euros in 2024—a remarkable 27 percent rise. According to the company, mobile phones, notebooks, and PC components were the most in-demand products among German customers. Meanwhile, in the Swiss market, Beauty & Health and Supermarket products saw the highest growth.

Over the long term, Galaxus’s development in Germany is just as striking as in Switzerland. Compared to 2022, German sales have nearly doubled, and since 2020, they have grown more than eightfold. However, unlike in Switzerland, Galaxus still trails far behind the industry leader, Amazon, in Germany.

Nevertheless, the company has ambitious plans for the German market. A new logistics center is set to open in mid-2025, which will serve not only German customers but also those in Switzerland and France.
