Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment

The Hyrule Warriors games are a spin-off series of The Legend of Zelda, combining the classic hack-and-slash gameplay and mass battles of Koei Tecmo’s Warriors series with the characters, game world, and style of Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda franchise. Following on from Hyrule Warriors (2014) and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (2020), Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, developed by Koei Tecmo's AAA Games Studio, founded in 2024 and headed by Yosuke Hayashi, is already the third game in the series.

Once again, players take on the roles of familiar heroes and battle their way through large hordes of enemies on dynamic battlefields. The game's storyline is set during the Imprisoning War, as mentioned in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Players enter the battlefield as Princess Zelda, King Rauru and other heroes, and experience the story of the Demon King Ganondorf’s invasion. Players fight alongside their allies against hordes of enemies. To stop them, they unleash powerful synchronised attacks with their comrades. If the outcome of a battle is in doubt, skilfully using Zonai components with water, wind or other effects can turn the tide. Different character combinations enable different types of synchronised attack.

In co-op mode, players can team up and enter the fray together, either on a split screen or via GameShare on two separate consoles, provided one of them owns the game.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment (Hyrule Warriors: Chronik der Versiegelung in German) is set to launch on 06 November 2025, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 for €69.99. Nintendo will handle the game's publishing for Koei Tecmo outside of Japan.
